Noun
The trait that identifies a card as belonging to one of four groupings in a deck; spades, clubs, hearts, or diamonds.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Suit and rank are the basic traits of every card except for the Jokers, which have neither suit nor rank. Suits are abbreviated as follows: Spades -s, Clubs - c, Hearts - h, Diamonds - d. While some card games assign different values to each suit, suit is not used as a criterion to break a tie in poker. It is only relevant for making a flush, straight flush, or royal flush.
EXAMPLE: "Both of my pocket cards were the same suit."
