Noun
The period at the end of each hand in which active players reveal their face-down cards, declare the value of their hand, and compare hands to determine the winner of each pot.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Can occur either through simultaneous declaring of players' hands or by having players take turns to declare their hands. When done in turns, it is typical for the last player to act to be the first to show down and to permit players to muck their hands rather than reveal them if they think they have lost. A single hand can have multiple showdowns if there are side pots.
EXAMPLE: "I won the showdown for the side pot but lost the main pot."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
