Shootout

  1. Noun

A tournament with mutliple tables in which players stay at the same table until each table has a winner, after which time the table winners compete in a freezeout to determine the final winner.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In other multiple table tournament formats, players may be required to change tables for the purpose of ensuring that all tables have approximately the same number of players or to reduce the total number of tables running.

EXAMPLE: "Since you're against the same opponents up until the final portion of the tournament, shootouts allow you to learn more about particular players and adapt your game more fully based on that information. In a tournament where you're switching tables a lot, player information and table image are not as important."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
