Shoe Clerk
Noun
Ribbon clerk; rock; a player who bets only a relatively small amount of money or chips, either in general or in a particular hand.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A player who ordinarily bets aggressively may be considered a shoe clerk in a particular hand in which that player is expected to play more conservatively, such as if the player is on the last hand before leaving the table.
EXAMPLE: "I used to be a bit of a show clerk, but I realized my opponents were taking advantage of that by betting aggressively to steal the pot. I adjusted my strategy to be a bit more varied, and even though I am betting more on average I am ending up losing less because my play isn't as predictable."
