Structured Limit

  1. Adjective

    That is played with a fixed limit; in which bets, raises, or reraises must be made for a specific amount rather than being allowed to fall between a minimum and maximum amount, often using a lower amount for earlier rounds and a higher amount for later rounds; as opposed to spread limit.

    EXAMPLE: "I usually play $0.10-$0.20 structured limit Hold'em."

    USAGE: Describes a game.

  2. Noun

    A specified wagering amount that players who choose to wager may not deviate from. Often includes one specified amount for earlier rounds and a higher amount for later rounds; as opposed to a spread limit.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Commonly referred to simply as the limit. Using a structured limit with a $10-$20 game, any bet, raise, or reraise in the first half of the game must be exactly $10. In the latter rounds of that game, bets, raises, or reraises must be exactly $20.

    EXAMPLE: "I used to play no-limit games and have only recently switched to playing structured limit games. I can't steal the pot or protect my hand as easily, and I am still adjusting to the different strategies."
