Bust

  1. Verb

    To lose all of one's chips or money; to be eliminated.

    EXAMPLE: "I had a bad game last night. I went bust after only two hours."

    APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

    SYNONYMS: Bust Out

  2. Verb

    To eliminate an opponent, especially in a tournament.

    EXAMPLE: "My opponent went all-in and I called with A-K suited. I was up against pocket Queens, and hit a King on the flop. My Kings held up on the turn and river. I busted my opponent."

    APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

  3. Verb

    To beat in a showdown, especially when the beaten hand was a favorite.

    EXAMPLE: "I had pocket Queens and went all-in. My opponent called with big slick. My Queens were busted when an Ace hit on the flop."

    SYNONYMS: Crack

  4. Adjective

    That missed; that remained an incomplete hand after all cards were dealt or revealed.

    EXAMPLE: "I think you win this one. I have nothing but a busted flush draw."

    USAGE: Describes a drawing hand.

    SYNONYMS: Miss

    ANTONYMS: Fill, Fill up, Hit, Improve
