Burn Card

  1. Noun

A card from the top of the deck that is discarded before each additional round of cards is dealt.

EXAMPLE: "The dealer accidently flashed the burn card when putting it in the discard pile. Though it wasn't as bad as flashing a card that would go to a specific player, it drastically changed the game play because the knowledge of one additional card impacted the odds of successfully completing a drawing hand held by one of the players."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
