Bounty Tournament

  1. Noun

A tournament in which there is a prize for knocking out a pre-determined player or for knocking out any of a number of pre-determined players.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Typically, these prizes supplement, rather than replace, prizes that are based on the position in which a player finished. In some cases, a player may have to knock out multiple players in order to receive the bounty prize. Both the number of players who have a bounty on them and the method for selecting these players vary significantly.

EXAMPLE: "I really enjoy bounty tournaments. I'm still learning a lot about the game and I usually don't place very well overall, but with bounties there is a new way for me to win a prize even if I end up placing out of the money."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

    SYNONYMS: Bounty

RELATED TERMS: Bounty-Only Tournament, Bust Out, Cash Game, Ring Game, Satellite, Super-satellite, Target Tournament, Tournament
