Button Charge

  1. Noun

A dead collection blind paid by the player in the button position; a form of collection drop in which the player in the button position is required to pay a fee directly to the house; as opposed a rake, time collection, a dead collection blind paid by a player in any seat position other than the button, or any other form of collection drop.

EXAMPLE: "When using a button charge rather than a rake play is slightly more aggressive. This is because the lack of a rake creates slightly better expected value and also because the cost of playing tightly increases since you still have to pay the button charge even if you're not in a lot of pots."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
