Verb
Maintaining eligibility to participate in the showdown while holding an incomplete hand that would win if completed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Example: Player A has Qh-Jh in the pocket. Player B has 10c-9c in the pocket. The flop is 10h-9h-4s and the turn is the 7d. Player B has two pair, 10s and 9s. Player A needs a heart to make a flush, a King to make a King-high straight, or an 8 to make a Queen-high straight. Although Player B would win on a showdown if no more cards were dealt, Player A is drawing live because there is a possibility that Player A's hand will improve enough to win the pot.
EXAMPLE: "I was drawing live but only had a few outs."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
