Double Deal

  1. Verb

    To deal a particular player two or more cards rather than a single card, especially intentionally for the purpose of giving that player an advantage.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: While retaining its particular meaning at the poker table, the term has passed into general usage to refer to cheating or double crossing.

    EXAMPLE: "If you keep your eyes open, double dealing is pretty easy to spot."

    An instance in which the dealer has given out two or more cards to a particular player rather than one card.

    EXAMPLE: "I noticed the double deal and pointed it out, but assumed it was a mistake this time. Still, I kept a careful watch for the rest of the game."
