Drawing Dead
Verb
Maintaining a stake in the pot with the possibility of completing a higher ranking hand than the player currently has, but in a situation where that player would lose a showdown regardless of what cards are dealt or revealed; drawing without any possibility of winning a showdown.
EXAMPLE: "I made my flush draw, but my opponent had a completed full house on the turn. It turns out I was drawing dead on the river. There was no card that could have been dealt on the river to give me a winning hand."
