Dead Blind
Noun
The mandatory contribution to the pot made before any cards are dealt under the condition that the player making the wager is not permitted to raise it; as opposed to a live blind.
EXAMPLE: "I had big slick, but wasn't able to raise before the flop since we were playing with a dead blind and everybody else just called."

The portion of the pot equal to a blind in games with the requirement that the winner of a hand has the responsibility to contribute the blind for the next hand; a blind that is contributed to the pot rather than kept by the winner of a hand; as opposed to a live blind.
EXAMPLE: "The pot was really a bit smaller than it looked because we were playing with a dead blind."
