Noun
A rule that each player has a chance to be the dealer and the dealer determines the variation of poker to be played for a specific hand, number of hands, or length of time.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Dealer's choice can be applied so that the dealer must decide from a predetermined range of games or so that the dealer may create new rules or game variations. Typically, the dealer would not be permitted to choose dealer-advantage games.
EXAMPLE: "We were playing dealer's choice at my friend's home game a few weeks ago. Someone decided we should play 5-card draw with two draws instead of one. Since I'd never played that variation before, I ended up losing a lot of money after a bad call that game."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
