Time Collection

  1. Noun

A fee based on length of time played or number of hands played that is paid to the casino or cardroom for the service of hosting the game; as opposed to rake.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Some jurisdictions forbid collecting a rake, so casinos or cardrooms in these locations may use a time collection as an alternative.

EXAMPLE: "Most cardrooms use a rake rather than a time collection because the fee doesn't seem like it is as big just after winning a hand as it would if the same amount of money was collected from players just for sitting at the table."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
