Rag

Alternate Term: Rags

Rag

    Rags
    1. Noun

Weak cards or a weak hand.

EXAMPLE: "I folded my rags when my opponent made a small raise."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

      RELATED TERMS: Baby

    2. Adjective

That revealed useless cards; in games played for high, that revealed cards of low value.

EXAMPLE: "I had big slick, but there was a rag flop."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

USAGE: Describes a round of dealing.

    3. Adjective

Rough; that includes several of the highest possible cards for the given hand; as opposed to smooth.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Example: In Ace-to-Five lowball, a hand of seven could be made with any of several possible combinations, 7-6-5-4-2, 7-6-5-4-A, 7-6-5-3-2, 7-4-3-2-A and many others. 7-4-3-2-A is the best seven because it uses the lowest possible cards. 7-6-5-4-A would be a rag seven because it uses several of the higher cards that would still be referred to by the same rank.

EXAMPLE: "I made a rag seven."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

      USAGE: Describes a lowball hand.

      SYNONYMS: Rough

      ANTONYMS: Smooth

      RELATED TERMS: Kansas City, Lowball
