Rakeback

  1. Noun

A promotional offer in which a percentage of the payments taken by a casino or cardroom are refunded to the player.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Rakeback offers are typically only available in online cardrooms due to the difficulty in tracking the rake from an individual player in a land-based cardroom. The policies and restrictions of these offers vary widely from website to website, and the customer should always carefully read the details of an offer before signing up. In some cases, rakeback is offered by an affiliate or marketing partner who is paid on a revenue-sharing basis rather than being offered by the cardroom itself.

EXAMPLE: "I prefer to look around for websites that have a low rake to begin with rather than ones that have a rakeback program, but the ideal combination would be a low rake and a rakeback. In any case, I play online a lot so a low rake or a good rakeback offer is much more beneficial to me in the long run than a one-time sign-up bonus."

    APPLIES TO: Online Venues

RELATED TERMS: Bonus, Rake, Reload Bonus, Sign-up Bonus
