Lowball

  1. Noun

    Any variation of poker in which the traditional hand rankings are reversed such that the lowest hand wins in a showdown rather than the highest hand winning.

    EXAMPLE: "Before starting to play Omaha high-low for money, I played a lot of lowball games with my friends. Since I was used to playing for high hands, the practice with low helped me adjust to the split games."

    A 5-card draw game in which the traditional hand rankings are reversed so that the low hand wins.
