Adjective
Who strictly adheres to mathematically-determined playing guidelines; who applies widely established techniques, especially in a predictable or non-varied manner.
EXAMPLE: "When I'm sitting in a low-stakes game, I'm basically ABC. Fancy moves don't work on opponents who aren't playing enough attention to notice them."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
USAGE: Describes a player.
RELATED TERMS: Aggressive, Loose, Rock, Rock Garden, Tight, Weak
Adverb
That does not diverge notably from basic mathematical guidelines; that follows technical guides, especially to an extent that it becomes predictable.
EXAMPLE: "I was playing ABC. Even though poker can be a lot about deception and outthinking your opponents, sometimes the money is made from sticking to the basics."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
USAGE: Describes game play.
RELATED TERMS: Aggressive, Loose, Rock, Rock Garden, Tight, Weak
Noun
In a lowball game, a sequence of the lowest cards possible.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In this usage, the term may be extended to ABCD to include four cards rather than three. In Ace-to-Five and Ace-to-Six lowball, ABC would mean Ace, 2, 3. In Deuce-to-Seven lowball, ABC would mean 2, 3, 4. ABC is similar to smooth or perfect, but refers only to having the lowest possible three cards in a lowball hand rather than the lowest possible four cards. ABCD would be synonymous with smooth or perfect.
EXAMPLE: "I had 8-7-ABC, but was beaten on the showdown when my opponent revealed 7-5-4-2-A."
