Automatic Bluff

  1. Noun

    An aggressive wager made with the intent of causing all opponents to fold, done with a weak hand in a situation in which the player placing the wager is expected to be at great advantage and in which a failure to place a wager would reveal the weakness of the hand.

    EXAMPLE: "We were playing five-card draw. My opponent drew four cards. I had a flush draw and drew one card, but didn't make the hand. I made the automatic bluff and my opponent folded."
