Action

  1. Noun

    A player's turn; the time at which a player may fold, check, call, bet, raise, announce the number of cards the player would like to draw, declare one's hand, or otherwise engage in game play.

    EXAMPLE: "Pick up the pace. Your action is taking forever."

  2. Noun

    Betting, raising, and re-raising, especially in reference to heavy betting in an exciting or lively atmosphere.

    The total amount of money a particular player has contributed to the pot in a given hand.

    EXAMPLE: "I'm in for $90 of action."

    The total amount of money in a pot that a given player is eligible to win, including other players' contributions to the pot and excluding any side pot in which the player has no stake.

    EXAMPLE: "I've got $270 of action riding on this hand."
