Verb
To hold a higher kicker than an opponent with an otherwise equal hand, winning the pot.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Example: Player A has A-J in the pocket. Player B has A-9 in the pocket. The flop is 6-A-3. The turn is another 6, and the river is an 8. Player A has two pair, Aces and sixes, with a Jack kicker. Player B has two pair, Aces and sixes, with a 9 kicker. Player A wins the hand by outkicking Player B.
EXAMPLE: "I rarely play a Texas Hold'em starting hand that has one high card and one low card. If you pair the low card, you have to be afraid one of your opponents has made a higher pair. Even if you get lucky and make top pair with the high card, you're not likely to get much money out of it. If nobody else made a good pair they'll fold to your bets, and if someone did make the same pair as you there is a good chance that player will outkick you."
