Verb
To offer a proposition bet in which players accepting the offer would win more than they wagered; as opposed to take the odds.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Example: Offering to pay 4:1 if a player completes an open-ended straight draw on the river would be laying the odds because the payout of $4 is larger than the initial stake.
EXAMPLE: "I laid the odds for a proposition bet. Even though the payout would have been large, the chances of losing were so small I really had a significant advantage in the long run."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
