Heads-Up

  1. Adjective

    In which only two people are playing; one-on-one.

    EXAMPLE: "With larger games, having one or two highly skilled players isn't as much of a problem since the others can still make the game profitable, but opponent selection becomes especially important in heads-up ring games. I've learned to leave if I think I'm being outplayed."

    USAGE: Describes a game or hand.

  2. Adverb

    EXAMPLE: "We were playing heads-up at the final table, and I was the short stack by a fairly significant margin."
