Hunt

  1. Verb

To ask to see the next card or the remaining community cards when a hand ends before all cards are dealt.

EXAMPLE: "We don't allow hunting in our weekly home game. There was one player who did it almost every hand and it really slowed the game down."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

    GAME CATEGORY: Shared Card Games

    SYNONYMS: Fox Hunt, Rabbit Hunt

RELATED TERMS: Community Cards, Flop, River, Turn

  2. Verb

To aggressively attempt to knock out opponents in a tournament.

EXAMPLE: "Tournaments tend to slow down a bit at just the point between placing in the money and placing out of the money. People are playing more conservatively in hopes someone else will bust out before them. It can feel really slow unless there is a big stack at the table with enough chips not to worry. Having someone with the chip stack to be able to confidently hunt really speeds up the game."

APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues

RELATED TERMS: Bounty Hunter, Bounty Tournament
