Noun
A game variation that is played for high unless there is no player who has a pair of Jacks or a hand better than a pair of Jacks in the first round of betting, in which case the game is changed from a high game to a specified version of lowball.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Any version of lowball may be applied in Jacks Back, though it is most commonly played using Ace-to-Five lowball or Deuce-to-Seven lowball rules rather than Ace-to-Six lowball rules.
EXAMPLE: "We were playing Jacks and Reverse draw using Ace-to-Five lowball rules. I had four cards to a steel wheel, so my hand was looking very strong regardless of whether another player opened or if the game switched to lowball."
APPLIES TO: Online and Land-based Venues
