Eldest Hand
Noun
The player immediately to the left of the dealer; the player who received the first card dealt.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Rather than referring to determining playing order based upon the actual age of each player, the term refers to the length of time that the hand has been in existence. The first hand that is dealt a card being the first hand that was created, and is thus the eldest. In games in which the best or worst hand acts first, when there are two or more players with hands of equivalent value, the eldest hand goes first.
EXAMPLE: "I had a marginal hand that I might have played from late position, but it was an easy fold since I was the eldest hand."
