Greek Bottom

  1. Noun

A cheating method in which the second card up from the bottom of the deck is dealt rather than dealing a card from the top of the deck.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A cheat may use the greek bottom method rather than bottom dealing just in case another player has seen the bottom card. Using the second card, which is less likely to be accidentally flashed to players, prevents the chance of being caught by dealing a card to someone who previously saw that card on the bottom.

EXAMPLE: "We caught someone dealing greek bottom and tossed the cheat out on the street."

    APPLIES TO: Land-based Venues

  2. Noun

The second card up from the bottom of the deck.

EXAMPLE: "If the dealer holds the deck wrong someone can easily get a peek at the bottom card, but it's not common to see the greek bottom accidentally. So to prevent mistakenly flashing cards, we usually put a card from a different deck on the bottom after shuffling the cards."

    APPLIES TO: Land-based Venues
