Wash
Verb
A card randomizing technique in which all cards in the deck are placed into a face-down heap on the table and then mixed together.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The dealer typically washes the deck when there is a deck change. In addition to the washing requirements established by the casino or cardroom, dealers may also wash the deck at the request of a player. Washing is not commonly used as the only randomizing method, and will often proceed a conventional shuffle.
EXAMPLE: "The floor manager brought over new decks to use, so the game stopped for a few minutes while the dealer checked them and washed the new decks."
