Inside Straight Draw
Noun
Four cards to a straight, where the missing card would be in the middle of the straight; a hand in which four out of five cards of consecutive rank are held and in which the missing fifth card has a rank that is between the highest and lowest ranked cards that are already in hand; belly buster; gutshot straight draw; as opposed to a one-ended straight draw or an open-ended straight draw.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Example: The hand 7-9-10-J is an inside straight because the missing card - an 8 - is between the lowest and highest portion of the straight. The hand 2-3-4-5 would not be an inside straight because the cards that would complete it - an A or a 6 - are not in the middle of cards already held. While this is a drawing hand, it is often referred to simply as an inside straight rather than an inside straight draw. The odds of completing an inside straight draw are the same as the odds of completing a one-ended straight draw.
SAMPLE HAND:
xEXAMPLE: "I took down a monster pot last night when I got a lucky card on the river to complete an inside straight."
