Cage

  1. Noun

The cashier area in a casino or cardroom.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In some casinos and cardrooms, players may be permitted to purchase chips directly at the table rather than having to purchase them at the cage. Due to the difficulty of securing cash in various locations around the cardroom and other reasons, most locations in which a player can buy chips at the table still require that they be cashed out at the cage.

EXAMPLE: "I had an amazing night. I bought in for a rack and by the end of the night had three racks to cash in at the cage."

    APPLIES TO: Land-based Venues

    RELATED TERMS: Color Up, Rack
