Player's Rights
Friday, July 03, 2009

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the game, defending its integrity, advocating for the rights of all poker players and poker enthusiasts, and working to guarantee them a secure and regulated place to play the game they love.

In the aftermath of the vote by the US House of Representatives to ban online poker, the PPA’s membership has almost quadrupled, with current rolls at 75,000+ and counting!

PPA President Michael Bolcerek describes this phenomenal growth as a spontaneous response by American poker players to come to the defense of their game. "More than 70 million people in the United States enjoy poker," he said. "In a day and age where computers dominate our daily lives, we must embrace rather than criminalize advancements in technology that allow us the opportunity to play this long-established pastime on the Internet. The right approach is regulation of online poker, not prohibition of America’s card game."

An independent study released in July 2006 showed that more than $3.3 billion in federal revenue and another $1 billion in state revenue could be raised if Internet poker were properly regulated and taxed in the United States, as it is in the United Kingdom. A copy of the full study can be found at www.pokerplayersalliance.org.

All of us at Poker Zone and Casino City feel that the recent attacks on poker players’ rights are serious, and that to combat the threat, substansive action is needed. We urge you to become actively involved in this cause by becoming a PPA member today. It’s quick and it’s easy. Just visit the PPA website at www.pokerplayersalliance.org. Let your voice be heard!
