Tequila Poker

Tequila Poker is not for the faint of heart. It's a fast-action game that requires you to pay close attention since you after the initial four cards are dealt you must decide not only if you want to continue and double your ante, but also which of the two games (Tequila Poker or High Tequila) you think will give you the best chance for the generous payout. Or if things look bleak, you can bail out and fold, losing just your ante bet.

The game is featured on MansionCasino.com and it is played with a single 52-card deck. All cards are dealt face up. Tequila Poker combines the elements of five-card poker and blackjack. You are dealt four cards, and then have to choose whether you would like to go for a poker hand or a point total hand. You are then dealt another two cards. The five best cards out of six make up your final hand.

If you decide to play High Tequila, card points are the same as in blackjack except Aces are always counted as 11. The lowest card is disregarded, and the rest of the cards are added up. If your cards total less than 46 you lose. If you get a winning hand, your ante bet pays even money, and your main bet pays according to how high your total amount adds up to. A total of between 46 – 48 pays 1 to 1 while 49 pays 2 to 1, 50 pays 3 to 1 and 51 pays 4 to 1. If you're fortunate enough to get over the 51 plateau that's when the real money starts rolling in as a total of 52 pays 7 to 1, 53 pays 15 to 1 and the max of 54 pays a whopping 200 to 1.

If you think you have a better chance to get a hand of a pair of Aces or better after the first four cards are dealt, you can opt to play Tequila Poker where your cards are used to make up the best possible five-card poker hand automatically. The remaining card is disregarded. Keep in mind that if the first four cards already make up a winning hand (for example, two pair or three of a kind); the name of the hand will be displayed under the cards when you are asked to make your play.

If you get a winning hand, your Ante bet pays even money, and your main bet pays according to a pay table that awards 1 to 1 for a pair of Aces, 2 to 1 for two pair, 3 to 1 for three of a kind, 5 to 1 for a straight, 7 to 1 for a flush, 8 to 1 for a full house, 15 to 1 for four of a kind, 50 to 1 for a straight flush and 200 to 1 for a Royal Flush.

Often times, your best option is to fold. By using a heavy dose of patience and discipline Tequila Poker can be beat by waiting for opportunities to hit the considerate payouts rather than attempting to win more hands than you end up folding.
